Rafting

Haines is known for its abundance of wildlife and can be seen practically anywhere in the valley, even in the downtown area. Guided tours are the best way to optimize your wildlife viewing potential as tour operators not only know where to go but are also able to reach remote areas not typically accessed by the main stream of visitors. Our rafting guides explore channels that they have experience with and cover different areas, so find one that hits your bucket list and fits your schedule.  Chilkat Eagle Preserve Float, which travels in the largest protected wilderness area, is usually around a 4-hour tour and covers the Chilkat River with three routes to choose from for opportunities to view eagles and other wildlife. There is no whitewater on this trip.

Tsirku River rafting will be a 2-3 day expedition which is located in the Chilkat Preserve with waters draining from the largest non-polar ice cap.  Alsek River raft trip will be around 8-12 days descending roughly 174 miles from Canada’s northern coastal mountains to the temperate rainforests of Southeast Alaska. Tatshenshini River trip will be around 10 days and is in an international river that flows from northern British Columbia to the Pacific Ocean in Alaska.
