Beerfest

Great Alaska Craft Beer & Home Brew Festival made its first appearance in 1992 and is proud to be Alaska’s oldest craft beer festival! This beer lover’s event is put on by the Southeast Alaska State Fair, a non-profit that gives back to the community.  The beautiful mountains of the Chilkat Range hover over the event and being centrally located makes it great for walkers.  Friday night consists of a gourmet brewer’s dinner served with a 5-course meal and paired tastings from our regional brewers, only 200 tickets sold and will sell out.  Prior to the brew festival tasting, home brewers' entries from throughout the region will be judged where the Best in Show will be chosen for the year.  This has become one of the most rigorous and hotly contested Home Brew Competitions in the entire region.  A new event, the Connoisseur’s Hour, is before the big event with a smaller crowd being able to spend time talking to the brewers.

In addition to the afternoon craft beer sampling, live music will fill the arena, as well as games, local merchants and food vendors will be available. A great event that has friends meeting back up in Haines and spending that weekend together sipping suds and meeting new friends to make plans for next year's reunion at the same location.
