Skagway, Alaska is very easy to access out of Haines and is only about 16 miles by water so you can make it a day trip but driving there you will need to go into Canada and put about 350 miles on your tires.

Our capital of Alaska is Juneau and is only accessible by water or flight and is possible to visit in a day with a day boat.
