Day Trips

Whether you are staying in Haines for the day or longer, we would like you to make the most of your time.  Here are some great ideas for day trips, hopefully, we hit some of your interests and scheduling your outings will be achievable.  Interested in fishing, we have half-day and full-day charters which can also be a sightseeing tour.  If you can’t get enough water, try floating down the Chilkat River or go up the Chilkat River on a flat bottom boat, both will cover scenic and wildlife opportunities.   Looking for a little exercise?  Kayak the surrounding waters that created the lakes and inlets, cycle along North America’s longest fjord to a glacial lake, or test your skills while hiking, ice climbing, backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, just saying there’s no end to activities for exercise.

Visiting our state capital, which is Juneau, for the day can be done through a local tour boat that leaves in the morning and arrives back in the evening as well as our flight companies.  Rent a vehicle and drive north, 40 miles gets you into Canada, after the border, you will see the hovering mountains right next to you and wildlife may cross right in front of you, don’t forget your passport.  Skagway is doable in a day, 16 miles by water, so embarking on a boat will make that happen just keep your eyes open for mountain goats and sea life.   The largest national park in Southeast, Alaska is Glacier Bay.  Our flightseeing companies can accommodate your travel plans to cover the 3.3 million acres of rugged mountains, powerful glaciers, temperate rainforest, and deep fjords all in a day.
