That’s a wrap on Winterfest 2026!

Winterfest weekend has come and gone, and Haines showed up in the best way — with snowy smiles, friendly competition, and a whole lot of winter spirit. A big thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, hosted, organized, donated, and cheered folks on. Winterfest is truly a community-powered weekend, and it wouldn’t happen without the many hands (and big hearts) behind the scenes.

Each February, Haines transforms into a winter playground with a lively mix of outdoor races, community traditions, and family-friendly events. From the mountain challenge of the Kat to Koot Adventure Race to the high-speed excitement of the ALCAN 200 International Snowmachine Race, Winterfest brings together locals and visitors for an unforgettable winter weekend.

What Winterfest is all about

Over the course of the weekend, you’ll find events and activities for all kinds of winter lovers — whether you’re racing, spectating, or just soaking up the season. Highlights include:

• Signature winter races & challenges (from human-powered endurance to snowmachine action)

• Winter Games at the Fairgrounds, featuring quirky, all-ages contests like bird curling, frying pan toss, tea making, and snowshoe races

• The beloved Chili Cookoff — a warm, community-favorite tradition

• Plenty of opportunities to watch, cheer, connect, and celebrate around town
