The 2026 Visit Haines Photo Contest

Grab your camera and help us capture the energy, adventure, and experiences that make Haines unforgettable.

From the first signs of spring in the Chilkat Valley to long summer days filled with exploration and connection, we’re looking for photos that showcase Haines in motion—people out enjoying the landscapes, adventure, community, and experiences that bring this place to life.

Whether you’re visiting for the season or lucky enough to call Haines home, we invite you to share your favorite moments with us.

This Year’s Theme: Haines in Motion

This year’s contest celebrates the people, places, and experiences that make Haines feel alive.

While the breathtaking scenery of Haines is always part of the story, we’re especially looking for photos that feature people experiencing Haines at its best—out on the water, exploring trails, gathering at events, enjoying local businesses, fishing, paddling, biking, sightseeing, relaxing, working, or simply taking in the beauty of the Chilkat Valley.

We want to see the moments that capture the spirit, movement, and connection that make Haines such a special place to experience.

Contest Opens May 15, 2026!

Submissions open Friday, May 15th, and the contest will run for 12 weeks through early August.

Each week, two winning photos will be selected and featured on Visit Haines social media channels and online platforms.

Weekly Winners

Two winners selected each week
Each winner receives a $50 gift card to a local Haines business of their choice

Grand Prizes

At the end of the contest, three grand prize winners will be selected from all entries received:

1st Place: $300 gift card to a local Haines business
2nd Place: $200 gift card to a local Haines business
3rd Place: $100 gift card to a local Haines business

The more photos you submit, the more chances you have to win!

Bonus Opportunity

Selected entries may also be featured in future Visit Haines and Haines Borough promotional materials, helping share the story of our community with visitors from around the world.

Photo entry must be at least 5 megapixels and must be in JPG format

Photographs may be gently edited, keep in mind natural as possible.

Photographs may be in either black & white or color.

Photographs may be either in vertical or horizontal format.

Entrants should not place borders or frames around their images, or place watermarks, signatures, dates, or copyright notices on their images.

Photos must be of the Haines area including the Lynn Canal and the Haines Highway and the drive to Haines Junction.

By submitting an entry to the 2026 Photo Contest you agree to the following:

Release by the Photographer

The participant hereby represents and warrants that he/she is the author of all the material submitted to Visit Haines and shall defend and hold Visit Haines harmless from any action, claim, loss, damage, liability and/or expense arising from or connected to the infringement of intellectual property rights or copyright with respect to the material submitted.

By registering your photography with Visit Haines, the participant hereby grants Haines Visitor Center an irrevocable, royalty-free and perpetual license right to use without restriction and reproduce all submitted materials, including without limitation the copying, transmission, distribution and publication for display or promotional purposes.

Submissions received after August 7th, 2026 will not be considered for a prize but may be utilized as described in the terms listed above.
