  • January 1, 2017 - Polar Bear Swim

  • January 20-22, 2017- Alcan 200
    International snow machine race from the U.S. Canadian border to Dezadeash Lake and back on the
    Haines Highway and on Sunday the snow drags will take place.  For more information, contact 766-3775 or web site www.alcan200.org/sign up. 
     
  • January 29-30, 2016 - Haines Dolphins' Winter Games North, Haines Pool
    Southeast Alaska and Canada swim teams will present some the finest swimmers in a competitive but friendly competition.  For more information go to Haines Dolphins site.

  • February 6, 2016 - Youth Raptor Program Kicks Off
    Young people ages 9 to 17 are invited to participate in the American Bald Eagle Foundation's 2016 "Youth Raptor Program." Classes are held on Saturdays at the Foundation through April. For more information, contact Choloe Goodson at (907) 766-3094 or programs@baldeagles.org.

  • February 12-14, 2016 - The House of Bernarda Alba, Chilkat Center for the Arts
    A drama about women in the villages of Spain.  Friday and Saturday shows start at 7 pm, Sunday matinee at 1 pm.  A Lynn Canal Community Players production, directed by Tod Sebens.

  • February 18, 2016 - River Talk, Chilkat Center for the Arts
    Come and share your story, come and listen to mine!  A cafe' setting, locals share their stories and musicians share their music.  At 7 pm, theme is "Tales of Resilience and Adaptation".  Sponsored by Lynn Canal Community Players and Alaska Arts Confluence, call 907-303-0222 to sign up.

  • March 3-6, 2016 - Dick Hotch Basketball Tournament, High School Gym

  • April 21-23, 2016 - *CANCELLED* TIA Yukon Annual Spring Conference & AGM
    A three evening, two-day professional development forum and networking opportunity for members, including educational seminars and leisure activities.
     
  • April, 2016 - Spring Fling, Southeast Alaska State Fair Grounds (Harriett Hall)
    Live music TBA.  BBQ, beer and music at 6:00 pm, members FREE and

  • April, 2016- "Big Air Competition, at the Chilkat Pass
    Held annually near the Three Guardsmen Mountain in British Columbia.  Skiers and snowboarders compete in three divisions; beginner, intermediate and advanced and judged on their air, style and landing. 
     
  • April 22-24, 2016 - American Contract Bridge Sectional Tournament, American Bald Eagle Foundation

  • May 27-28, 2016 -  24th Annual Great Alaska Craftbeer and Homebrew Festival
    Gourmet Beer Banquet on Friday evening.  Fun-run on Saturday morning.   Saturday afternoon
    enjoy live music, local food, and excellent craft beers from breweries and distributors across the state.

    From Haines Junction, YT to Haines, AK.  148.8 miles along Kluane National Park, Tatshenshini Alsek

  • July 4, 2016 - Independence Day Celebration & Music Festival
    Mt. Ripinsky run, a parade, BBQ, mud volleyball, pie eating contest and much more.  In the evening enjoy the
    Independence Day Music Festival at the Fort Seward Parade Grounds followed by fireworks.

  • July 28-31, 2016 - 48th Annual Southeast State Fair

  • August, 2016 - Raven's Bowl Disc Golf Tournament, Glacer Point & Haines Courses at the Fairgrounds
    Alaska Excursions presents a Labor Day weekend of DISC GOLF.  Tournament includes:  boat shuttle between Haines and Glacier Point and 2 nghts of camping & 36 holes of tourament play at remote GP course.  Return to Haines fo 18 holes at Raven' Bowl.  $50 buy-in, cash pay-out to the champs!  Bring your own food ad camping supplies.  Full itinerary @ seafair.org or contact Danny khorezmda@yahoo.com.

  • September 2, 2016 - 22nd Annual Mardi Gras Party

  • October through January - Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Gathering
    World's largest congregation of American Bald Eagles. Up to 4000 eagles gather along the banks of the Chilkat River to feast on spawning salmon.
     
  • October, 2016- 5K Zombie Fun Run/Walk, SE Alaska State Fairgrounds
    Presented by the Fair and SEARHC and starts 5:30 pm at the Fairgrounds.   Costumes encouraged.  Fire pit, hot drinks, fun music and lights, entry is $10.  Zombie Clinic at 5 pm (for those who need help with Zombie makeup).

  • November, 2016 - Annual Lighting of the Library Fundraiser, Haines Borough Public Library
    Sponsored by the Friends of the Haines Borough Library.  Kick off the winter season at 4:00 pm with friends and family, music, refreshments, art project for kids, and of course, the lighting of the tree.  If you would like to help with the decorating of the library, the elves could use your help.  Call 907-766-2545 for more information. www.haineslibrary.org.  
     
  • November 14-20, 2016 - 22nd Annual Alaska Bald Eagle Festival, American Bald Eagle Foundation

  • December, 2016 - Lighting of the Fort, Fort Seward Parade Grounds
    At 5 pm, sharp, the great canon blasts and Fort Seward lights up with Christmas lights.  Then follows the fireworks, a Nativity Play and then an old-fashioned bonfire, weenie roast.  Join the fun and get the Christmas spirit going.
     
  • December, 2016- Annual Community Christmas Celebration
    Activities for kids of all ages.  Enter your favorite sweet treat in the candy/cookie contest, write a letter to Santa and get your picture with the man in the red suit, visit Mrs. Claus at the Public Library for stories and songs,and get an early start on your holiday shopping.   The parade down Main Street starts at 4:30 followed by the Gifts for Grub toy drive at the American Legion put on by the Haines Uglys.
