  • January 18-20, 2019 - Alcan 200
    International snow machine race from the U.S. Canadian border to Dezadeash Lake and back on theHaines Highway.  Calcutta is Friday night, Saturday the race and on Sunday the snow drags will take place.  For more information, contact 766-3775 or web site www.alcan200.org/sign up. 
     
  • January, 2019 - Haines Dolphins' Winter Games North, Haines Pool

  • February, 2019 - Youth Raptor Program Kicks Off
    Young people ages 9 to 17 are invited to participate in the American Bald Eagle Foundation's "Youth Raptor Program." Classes are held on Saturdays at the Foundation through April. For more information call 907-766-3094 or programs@baldeagles.org.

  • April, 2019 - "Big Air Competition, at the Chilkat Pass
    Held annually near the Three Guardsmen Mountain in British Columbia.  Skiers and snowboarders compete in three divisions; beginner, intermediate and advanced and judged on their air, style and landing. 
     
  • April-May, 2019 - Fortnight of Learning, Haines Sheldon Museum
    Evening lectures on the history and natural history of the Chilkat Valley, every day for two weeks.  For more information call 907-766-2366.

  • May 24-25, 2019 -  24th Annual Great Alaska Craftbeer and Homebrew Festival
    Gourmet Beer Banquet on Friday evening.  Fun-run on Saturday morning.   Saturday afternoon
    enjoy live music, local food, and excellent craft beers from breweries and distributors across the state.

  • June-July, 2019 - Summer Youth Theater Conservatory, Chilkat Center

  • June 15, 2019 - 26th Annual Kluane to Chilkat Bike Relay 
    From Haines Junction, YT to Haines, AK.  148.8 miles along Kluane National Park, Tatshenshini Alsek

  • June 15, 2019 - 11th Annual Fisherman's Community Barbecue, Fairgrounds

  • July 6, 2019 - 3rd Annual Chilkat Challenge Triathlon, Haines area
    Join us for the Annual Chilkat Challenge Triathlon - 8 mile paddle Mosquito Lake to Chilkat River, 21 mile cylce through the Bald Eagle Preserve to Haines and finish with an 8 mile run from Haines to the Chilkat State Park.  For more information go to www.chilkatchallengetriathlon.com.
     
  • July, 2019 - Baking Competition, Southeast State Fair-Harriet Hall
    Annual baking competition and live auction!  This year is "anything chocolate", prizes and ribbons for adult and youth categories, complete rules here.
     
  • July 25-28, 2019 - 51st Annual Southeast State Fair, Haines Fairgrounds

    World's largest congregation of American Bald Eagles. Up to 4000 eagles gather along the banks of the Chilkat River to feast on spawning salmon.

  • November, 2019 - Annual Lighting of the Library Fundraiser, Haines Borough Public Library

  • October through January - Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Gathering
    World's largest congregation of American Bald Eagles. Up to 4000 eagles gather along the banks of the Chilkat River to feast on spawning salmon.
     
  • December, 2018 - Annual Community Christmas Celebration throughout December
    Throughout December there are activities for everyone.  Write a letter to Santa and drop at the Post Office and enter the Cookie & Candy Contest.  Mrs. Claus will be at the Library for stories & songs.  Visit the Haines Sheldon Museum to get pictures with Santa and get an early start on your holiday shopping.   The parade goes down Main Street (lineup at Thors @ 3:30 pm) and the Haines Uglys put on The Gifts for Grub toy drive at the American Legion.
     
  • December 1, 2018 - Lighting of the Fort, Fort Seward Parade Grounds
    At 5 pm sharp, the great canon blasts and Fort Seward lights up with Christmas lights.  Then follows the fireworks, a Christmas Tableau and music of the season.  Join an old-fashioned bonfire, weenie roast.  Hope for snow for the sledding party and get the Christmas spirit going.
     
  • December 7, 2018 - Haines First Friday Event

    Visit Santa, vote on the Cookie & Candy entries, Christmas caroling, hot chocolate and cotton candy, starting at 5 pm.
     
  • December 8, 2018 - Artist Bazaar, Santa, Mrs. Claus and Winter Cheer at the Library
    Artist Bazaar at the Chilkat Center from 10 am-2 pm, photos with Santa 1-3 pm at the Haines Sheldon Museum, Stories/songs with Mrs. Claus 3:30-4:30 pm at the Library and from 6-8 pm Winter Cheer at the library.
     
  • December 9, 2018 - Community Bazaar "Dickens Victorian Winter Stroll", Elementary School

  • December 15, 2018 - Holiday Parade & Uglys Gifts for Grubs
    Line up for the parade at Thors at 3:30 pm, starts at 4 pm than join the Uglys Gifts for Grub at 5 pm at the Legion.
     
  • December 16,  2018 - Holly Jolly Follies, Chilkat Center
    A wonderful community variety show surely to delight both young and old and bring Christmas cheer to all.  The show will start promptly at 4 pm.
     
  • December, 2019 - Haines ANS Camp 5 Christmas Bazaar, ANB/ANS Hall
    Something for everyone!  Held at the ANB/ANS Hall from 10 am to 2 pm.  Call 907-766-2166 to reserve a table.
     
  • December 31, 2018 - Annual Casino Night, Chilkat Center
